As I had already had in Goldberg about an acre of land, 8 years ago I bought a fruit house and country house and three acres of land, and planted apricot plantation 1.93 ha, 0.44 ha of pears, viticulture peach 0.1 ha, and 1,400 vines.
Outbuildings I enlarged and restored; inside there is a tasting room, toilets, distillery, cellar for wine storage, cellar for accommodation brandies and liqueurs, and garages to accommodate tractors and machinery needed for orchards and vineyards.
The house was converted into an apartment with two bedrooms and 4 beds.
A pool was built 4 years ago in the courtyard in order to improve the tourist offer.
Current economic situation indicates how family farms can survive and be well positioned in the market only by expanding the product range. I definitely want to create a brand of aromatic and medicinal brandy liqueur from Goldberg
and make my estate interesting to customers and tourists in the future. Please note that my products, pear brandy, and apricot brandy and liqueurs are already well known and award-winning.
The house, environment, and infrastructure are beautifully decorated.
A vital interest for the entire Baranja, and the municipality of Popovac, located along the most beautiful part of the Baranja mountain, is to find new sources of income for their population. Baranja is touristically more recognizable, and Popovac can significantly participate in it.

Baranja hill, “mountain”, as called by the people of Baranja, Banska kosa, stretches from Beli Manastir to Batina. Its central part is located at the edge of the village of Popovac, which is historically known as an important Roman settlement, and the former name is Ban. Part of Banska kosa above Popovac is called the Golden Hill – Zlatno brdo.
The name was given by the Romans who arrived here at the beginning of the 1st century and immediately recognized the ideal conditions for grape cultivation and production of excellent wines and made this part of the hill called MnusAureus (Golden Hill), not by gold mining, but after a golden drop! This is also shown by the fact that in the municipality of Popovac (Roman Antiani) found two altars dedicated to the Roman god of wine and entertainment Libero (and which is in the whole of Europe only a few!). Altars are located in Zagreb Archaeological Museum. On one of these there are twelve lines of text.
What in translation, to reconstruct the full text, means: “God the Father Liber! Aurelius Constantine, former procurator of vineyards at his own expense and with the help of his son Venacija, ennobled 400 ARPENI vineyards, among others kupenskim, terminijskim, Valenski, Calabrese types of vines. ”
The monument is in the 4th century and is a rare record that mentions exactly certain varieties of vines in those days!
As for the time of the Romans two thousand years ago, so throughout its history, this hill was known as a godsend for the cultivation of fruit and vines. During Maria Theresa, this hill was given the German name Goldberg, many wines from goldberg were drank on the court, the known Banska Schiller. Wines Goldberg were served at the courts of Vienna, Budapest, Prague and Venice. The name Goldberg stayed preserved in this part of Bansko Brdo until today, and for good wine and brandy there is the old saying “It is from Goldberg!”.
Soil structure, the position of the Goldberg provide exceptional aroma and overall quality of drinks produced from fruit species that grow here, wine, brandies, liqueurs healing … (Beljska Goldberg Riesling won the European and international awards.)
